The LEED Pilot Credit Library is now live with 10 credits available to project teams for immediate use!
LEED’s newest rating system development tool allows project teams to test new credits and innovative strategies as soon as they are proposed, and before they are incorporated into the member-balloted collection of LEED Rating System credits. As a result, project teams have a unique opportunity to work interactively with USGBC membership, committee members and staff to help shape the LEED credits of the future.

How it works: Pilot Credits are currently being tested for all rating system types, and all credit categories, including proposed LEED 2012 Rating System credits. Project teams with active LEED projects may attempt any applicable credits for Innovation and Design credit. Credit is earned by providing USGBC with valuable feedback on the efficacy and achievability of the pilot credit being tested. Project feedback will be obtained through group conference calls, individual project interviews, online surveys, LEEDuser and other methods. Additional project-specific information may also be requested by USGBC from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) to help inform pilot credit discussions. USGBC will collect, organize and integrate feedback to evolve and refine pilot credits during their testing period with a goal of adding successful credits to the USGBC member-balloted LEED rating systems.
Interested in participating? An overview of the process and available credits can be found below. Project teams interested in participating in the pilot test of a credit are required to register here.
Reviewing & Revising Pilot Credits: Based on project team feedback, credits can be modified, deleted or put into the queue for member ballot. Pilot Credits deemed successful as a result of pilot testing will be advanced through USGBC's formal member balloting process for inclusion in the LEED rating systems. In some cases during pilot testing, a credit or prerequisite may not meet its stated intent. At the conclusion of pilot credit evaluation, if a credit's requirements are deemed ineffective, the credit may be substantially modified or removed altogether.

How to Participate
-
- Confirmation: After applying, the project team will receive additional information on the pilot credit process.
Project teams accepted to participate in piloting a credit agree to take part in a feedback process designed to assess performance of pilot credits. Input from non-project-team stakeholders will also be solicited, ensuring that all interests have an opportunity to provide feedback during the pilot process.
